SCC Partners Group, LLC will be rolling out VASPEN™, its new entry into the fast growing premium bottled water market segment which includes recognized high-end “bottled at the source” still and carbonated waters. The water will be one of a very few U.S. based “bottled at the source” premium water products on the market.
Last year, Americans consumed 10.1 billion gallons of bottled water and spent an estimated $12.3 billion.
The premium market segment makes up approximately 10 percent of the total U.S. bottled water market, and has been growing at a rapid pace. For example, according to Information Resources Inc., in 2012 it grew 34 percent over 2011, and for the 52 week period that ended August 11, 2013, it was up another 32.5 percent.
To meet this growing premium segment demand, the company will introduce its VASPEN™ brand in the 4th quarter of 2014, emphasizing the quality of its 7.5 pH naturally balanced alkaline water captured at a pristine mountain spring, with just the right amounts of natural electrolytes for excellent healthy taste and hydration.
Named for its geographic location between Vail and Aspen in the Rocky Mountains, VASPEN™ water will be sourced from the Sweetwater Lake Spring in Colorado’s pristine Sweetwater Canyon, adjacent to almost 240,000 acres of the Flat Tops Wilderness Area, which does not allow motorized vehicles, oil and gas exploration, or human development of any kind.
The water will be transmitted directly from the spring to an on-site bottling facility where it will be packaged, without ever being touched by humans, eliminating any opportunity for contamination.
VASPEN™ branded products will compete with the premium international, bottled-at-the source brands such as Fiji, Volvic, Perrier, San Pellegrino, and Evian, among others.
VASPEN™ will be distributed in unique glass bottles for on-site consumption in restaurants, hotels and resorts, as well as for distribution at natural food and health outlets, grocery and convenience stores, through private labeling, and via other channels. Initial distribution will roll out regionally to the Colorado market and ultimately, nationally and internationally.
SCC Partners Group has sole ownership of the water rights associated with its spring water, and also owns Sweetwater Lake Resort, with 488 acres of pristine Rocky Mountain meadows, canyon walls, and extraordinary natural amenities, including a 77 acre natural lake, which was appraised in 2009 at $12 million.
To date, the Company has made initial investments of $6.9 million in VASPEN™ and is in the process of raising additional funding of $12.5 million in the form of convertible notes and limited membership interests.
