Biz Girls Camp Open House

When: Thursday, May 16, 5:30-7 p.m.
Location: YWCA Boulder 2222 14th St., Boulder CO 80302

Biz Girls Camp would like to invite you to their open house, a free Boulder Startup Week event that highlights the entrepreneurial spirit of adult and young women entrepreneurs and introduces the Biz Girls Camp curriculum, a week long summer camp that takes the interests, skills and passions of young women and helps them turn these into a profitable business. Refreshments will be served.

Speakers include Joy Godesiabois, an entrepreneurship professor at Colorado School of Mines, who will speak about her recent groundbreaking analysis that showed venture capital firms that invest in women-led companies outperformed those that didn’t. Godesiabois also has more than 22 years of high tech financial management, international finance, fund raising and treasury experience.

Also speaking will be Patty Laushman, who grew a local IT services firm for nine years and sold the company in May 2012. Laushman will speak about her experiences as an entrepreneur.

Biz Girls Camp is a dynamic, hands-on experience that helps them leverage their own unique strengths and turn them into a profitable business. By the end of the camp, each girl is the CEO of a real, operating business enterprise. Along the way, girls have fun while learning about leadership, confidence, self-reliance and the principles of a market economy. The life-long skills and self-perceptions are best established in the pre-college years when they can make the biggest difference.
