RVC Signature Series: Impact Investing 2018

    December 11th, 2018 | 4:00-8:00 PM
    Available via Livestream

    Event Schedule:

    • 4:00 - 4:30pm -- Cocktail Reception and Networking.  Wine/Beer/Soft Drinks and hot appetizers.

      4:30 – 4:45pm -- Program Kick-off

      4:45 - 5:30pm -- Keynote Presentation

      5:35- 6:15pm -- 4 Pitches from Impact Companies:

      6:20 - 7:15pm -- Impact Investing Panel

    • 7:15 - 8:00pm -- Networking w/ Impact Companies and Speakers

Impact Investing is becoming a trillion dollar market and yet there seems to be a significant disagreement about exactly what Impact Investing really is. Like the fable of the five blind men who all described an elephant differently based on what part they were touching, we all tend to describe the part of Impact that we ourselves are touching. That can lead to confusion and disenchantment with this important space.

RVC’s Sixth Annual Impact Investing event digs deep into describing the Impact Investing Landscape and demystifies the differences between concessionary and non-concessionary strategies, between primary and secondary impact, public and private impact investments, Sustainable Development Goals, gender, geography, race, sectors and how we measure impact when there are so many different ideas of what it is.

This event includes a keynote presentation on the Impact Investing Landscape, a panel with experts from different areas of Impact Investing describing their perspectives, and a number of great Impact companies pitching live for venture capital to investors in the audience. The Conference is open to the public and there will be plenty of time for networking to get to know the who’s-who of Impact Investing.

We think you'll find it interesting and we'll all learn something!

Event is open to the public.
    Entrepreneurs and investors welcome
    Please pre-register if possible.
    $10 surcharge on door registrations.

    RVC Denver Investor Forum

The RVC Denver Angel Investor Forum is a group of accredited investors who are interested in learning about private equity investing in Colorado.

Newcomers are welcome regardless of whether they are experienced Angels or if they are just curious. There is no requirement to invest and each investor makes personal decisions on each deal.

The forum helps to make Angel Investing fun and more efficient by pooling the wisdom, efforts and funding of many individuals and syndicating on investments. By sharing in due diligence and negotiation we are able to fund many more deals than if we pursued them as individuals.

The RVC Investor Forums meet to discuss companies that pitch during RVC Monthly Meetings and RVC Conferences such as the Angel Capital Summit and the Colorado Capital Conference.

Rockies Venture Club staff facilitates Forum meetings and Investor Forum members manage their own investments. RVC does not recommend investments nor manage a fund.  RVC recruits entrepreneurs to pitch to our investors, we carefully select investment-worthy companies and coach them through an extensive pitch coaching process so that investors receive information in a format that includes what they need to know to make good investment decisions.

To attend, you must be an accredited investor (net worth of at least one million US dollars, not including the value of one’s primary residence, or have made at least $200,000 each year for the last two years [or $300,000 together with his or her spouse if married] and have the expectation to make the same amount this year). Register for the HyperAccelerator program and get your company truly venture capital ready.  This program is for companies who have done the basics already - it's not a place to just try out an idea.  Companies should be ready to raise capital immediately or within the next six months.

The HyperAccelerator is an ultra-intense mentor-driven program that dives deep into the tough strategies and questions that need to be developed to land angel or venture investing.  At the end of the program companies have got a detailed and sophisticated exit strategy, OKRs, Go To Market, Five Valuation Models, Capital Strategy, Scaling Strategy and more.  The program ends with a demo day with an audience of angel and VC investors.

There are THREE STEPS to Apply to HyperAccelerator.

    1) Register HERE and pay your REFUNDABLE deposit to start the process.

    2) Complete the initial questionnaire on the hyperaccelerator.org site under the APPLY button.

    3) Complete a GUST profile for your company.  (Note: this will be used for the funding process post-HyperAccelerator as well as for screening for the program)

This deposit is fully refundable but will ensure that your spot is reserved for the seventh cohort  of the of RVC Hyperaccelerator. If you are interested in learning more, check out hyperaccelerator.org

The January 2019 cohort of HyperAccelerator companies is horizontal - meaning that any company category can apply.  In the past we have had industry or topic specific programs for impact companies, life sciences, etc., but this one is open to any type.  If you are looking for our Impact HyperAccelerator, stay tuned for June 2019!

If you have questions please don't hesitate to reach out to Operations Director Dave Harris dave@rockiesventureclub.org

    Strategic Class Cluster:

A combination of RVC's Strategic Planning, Exit Strategy, and Go-to-market Strategy
    For both investors and entrepreneurs

by Thought Leader: Peter Adams, MBA,

When Rockies Venture Club first implemented its Hyperaccelerator program we found that a large amount of synergy can be found when working on multiple aspects of your company at the same time. That is why we now have created these class clusters that combine some of the most popular classes in RVC's curriculum.

During this cluster we will be focusing on long-term strategy for startup companies. We will initially start out with strategic planning where you will work on defining your mission, vision, and values that will start your company on a strong foundation. Next, we will move into the exit strategy workshop where you will learn about building value not just for your first customer, but for the second customer that is likely to acquire your company and return capital to investors. Finally we will wrap up with go-to-market strategy, often the area of largest risk for early stage companies.

This will be a class that you don't want to miss!

    The Final Steps Class Cluster:

A combination of RVC's Due Diligence & Term Sheets Classes
    For both investors and entrepreneurs

by Thought Leader: Peter Adams, MBA,

Due Diligence and Term Sheets are closely tied together, so we've bundled these two classes together to provide more value and context to investors and entrepreneurs who are looking to learn more about the final steps in the investment process. That is why we now have created these class clusters that combine some of the most popular classes in RVC's curriculum.

Due Diligence and term sheets are two of the most important parts of the investing process for both investors and entrepreneurs, and they are also some of the most misunderstood aspects as well. We will be moving well beyond just the due diligence checklist and will talk about strategies for making the process transparent and effective for everyone. it is essential for entrepreneurs to understand an investor's motivations and prepare appropriately so that they maintain momentum in the fundraising process. It is also important for investors to have a significantly better chance of seeing 10x returns. After due diligence we will move into Term Sheets, understanding the key terms, how to avoid dilution on both sides of the table, as well as key points of negotiation.

This will be a class that you don't want to miss!

    Colorado Angel Investors

The Fort Collins Angel Investor Forum is a group of accredited investors who are interested in learning about private equity investing in Colorado.

Newcomers are welcome regardless of whether they are experienced Angels or if they are just curious.  There is no requirement to invest and each investor makes their own decisions on each deal.

We do not require a minimum investment.
